We expected a standard highlights tour, but the itinerary was rebuilt around our interest in wildlife and food. Our guide added a village cooking stop near Sigiriya and shifted the safari to a quieter morning—those became the moments we talked about most.
Heavy rain changed our plans in the hill country. By breakfast, the team had rearranged the route, found us a tea experience indoors and kept every hotel transfer running on time. We never felt like we were losing a day.
Travelling with two children usually means compromises. The driving days were kept short, our guide knew exactly where to stop, and the mix of elephants, trains and beach time held everyone's attention without exhausting us.
